<itunes:summary>Starting later this week recording will commence on the new album! The band will assemble at Doug's modest country retreat, Green Gate, to begin laying down rhythm tracks. Since Doug recorded almost the entire first album single-handedly, the new disc will be the first bona fide Stars Explode band project, and the group is excited to start work on it. Although we had thought we might retire this site sometime over the summer--seeing as how most folks rely on Facebook, MySpace, or ReverbNation for band news nowadays--we've decided to keep it going and leverage the blog format to provide ongoing updates on the album's progress and the recording process. Being a bunch of home recordist geeks ourselves, it'll be fun to document the creative process a bit and share some of the challenges we face while recording an album low-budget guerrilla style, in both the analog and digital realms. (We'll be starting on 8-track analog and transferring to Logic Pro 9.)

Meanwhile, here's a teaser track that may or may not make it onto the album. It's a cover of the Mott the Hoople (David Bowie-penned) classic, All The Young Dudes. We cut it last fall for a compilation album that may not end up seeing the light of day, using much the same analog-to-digital approach. Hope you dig it!</itunes:summary>
