OK, despite what we said about leveraging all our other sites for promotion and news and whatnot, TSE central here still provides a nice channel for posting new demos and works in progress, which was part of the original intent of this site. Last Wednesday, I wandered downstairs around 10pm and picked up the ol’ acoustic, which has been tuned to open D recently. Within minutes, I had the makings of a song. It was one of those rare times when a new song just sort of presents itself through telepathy or something. It was a rather haunting, melancholy melody, which seemed all the more fitting when I learned the next morning that Alex Chilton–one of my all-time biggest musical inspirations and influences–had passed away sometime on Wednesday evening. Spooky.
I present this very raw demo version of the song in the hopes that fans dig it and that it offers a glimpse into the creative process. This was recorded without so much as a single external microphone, directly into my iMac, using Logic Pro. So, feel over fidelity!
