My how time does fly! Hard to believe summer’s nearly over. I was busy making music these last few months, but mostly in my role as drummer for Violet Vector and the Lovely Lovelies. That gig has been a total gas, and we’ve recently begun playing out again to local acclaim and madly enthusiastic crowds. Next up for VVLL is an opening slot for Portastatic here in Chapel Hill on September 12. Cool.
Meanwhile, in Stars Explode land, I’ve been writing new material for a follow-up album. That’s been going well, and I look forward to demo-ing some tracks in my new home away from home, Greengate Studios. TSE is also getting ready to play that rare live gig (I know, I wish there were more…). The band will appear once again at this year’s Carrboro Music Fest, scheduled for Sunday, September 28. See the Live Dates section for details.
Finally, I’ve decided to issue a very limited run of “hard copy” discs for the debut album, which hit iTunes and Amazon earlier this year as a download-only release. There will be totally new artwork and liner notes to accompany the CD release, which I hope to offer for sale directly via this site. Stay tuned for a September announcement!
