Just back from a short trip to the soulless wonderland that is Las Vegas, NV. It was a work-related trip, alas, but I still had a really good time taking in the sights, meeting up with some dear old friends, eating a fantastic meal at Joe’s below Ceasar’s Palace, and seeing the Cirque de Soleil Beatles LOVE show. That was freaking amazing. I was skeptical when I first read about the whole project, but it was so good. Goosebumps on the arms good. Really. See it if you’re out there.
Meanwhile, back here at Casa Edmunds, I’m about to head into my inner sanctum and finish off the last of the recordings in preparation for Monday and Tuesday night, when I finally (finally!) go to mix the album. As some of the previous posts have suggested, this project has been a long time coming and–to use a tired cliche–a real labor of love. I’ve written, arranged, played, sung, and recorded every last note on this collection of songs, some of which date back 5-6 years, others of which are less than a year old. It’s been a slow but rewarding process, but now I’m ready to be done with the process part and just get the songs out there for people to hear. Plus, I’m extremely optimistic about how the live band seems to be shaping up. More news on that soon.
I’ll leave you with a bit of nonsense I wrote and recorded somewhere at 30,000 feet, probably between Arizona and Texas, on the plane back from Vegas. It sure ain’t destined for a future performance by the Stars Explode, but you gotta love GarageBand and a black MacBook!
